CWQ Brewing Co.

The CWQ Brewing Co has brought the pioneering stories of remote Central Western Queensland to Aussie beer drinkers for the first time more than a century.

RAPAD founded CWQ Brewing Co with Queensland Government support in 2021, with the goal to establish a regionally-owned and operated brewery, run and owned by the people of Central Western Queensland, with profits retained and shared within the region.

With approximately 200,000 tourists visiting the region during COVID19-affected 2020 alone, tourists will be a key market. CWQ Brewing Co continued to grow its range in 2022, with an eye on meeting the growing tourist market’s expectations.

Brewing Up a Thirst for Outback Queensland

Late in 2021, in Australia’s most remote beer production facility, three beer brands were brewed up celebrating some of Australia’s most remote towns: Barcaldine, Longreach and Winton Lagers. The label designs were based on stories of local history, and developed by local communities.

CWQ Brewing Co. was the first to identify a manufacturing brewery, as an economic development opportunity for Central Western Queensland. From idea to reality.

What’s even more local? Each beer was only available in limited quantities from the town that shared its name! Unsurprisingly, the beers quickly became collector’s items among locals and tourists alike and quickly sold out.

In 2022 with further Queensland Government support, the CWQ Brewing Co released a four addition beers, celebrating the Shires of Boulia, Barcoo, Blackall-Tambo and Diamantina.

As ever, the success of this new range of lagers will be due to the locals each can represents – town historians, publicans and everyday community members of Central Western Queensland who have played a part in the research, design and production of each beer. More than 20,000 cans of the new lagers were delivered to 21 pubs, licensed operators and tourism venues across Central Western Queensland – a journey encompassing seven Local Government Areas covering a combined 396,000kms, or 22.9% of the land area of the entire state!

This brewery initiative is about making beer in the community, making beer that is owned by the community and making beer that is going to showcase the community to visitors that come into this region.

Investment opportunity

Our vision has always been to build a profitable, multigenerational modern manufacturing brewery – owned and operated by the people of Central Western Queensland.

We want a strong regional presence with economic benefit, and with ongoing brand development see our products become symbolic of positive images of Australian character, culture and our uniquely Aussie way of life. Our full intention is to drive opportunities that produce beer that has a competitive market edge, and benefits from lower energy and production costs, supporting the emergence and growth of the CWQ Brewing Co brand, with original products marketed and distributed both inside and outside the region. We will provide a manufacturing presence that does not directly compete with the unique iconic pub network, but strengthens it, through the provision of a tourist range of products, utilising the natural resources and location acumen of the region to make Australia’s most remote beer.

Early success has given a compelling case for continuance. Could humble beginnings and hard work see the potential birthplace of a nationally recognised beer brand that all Australians are proud of? Download the Information Memorandum for more details on the project and investment.
