The webinar aimed to provide information about existing services and the frameworks they operate under as well as exploring options to support communities meeting their emerging needs, with a focus on education and training and Family Day Care (FDC) services.
Jodie Sullivan from the Queensland Department of Education Early Childhood Regulatory Authority provided an overview of types of care and outlined the licensing process and obligations for various types of ECEC services.
Leanne Lipp from Kath Dickson Family Centre gave an overview of ECEC qualifications, pathways and requirements, including information on course structures, work placements and course delivery methods.
The webinar shifted focus to explore Family Day Care hearing from Kelly Mills from Kath Dickson Family Day Care providing an overview of the role of service providers in FDC and then Debbie Tuckey from Family Day Care Queensland provided FDC information regarding including qualification and building requirements, the application and approval process to become a FDC educator, how to find a service provider and day to day aspects of the role of FDC educator.
Providing valuable balance, the webinar heard the perspective of FDC provider Rebecca Lacey offering real world experience as a FDC educator who has been working in the industry for many years based in our region.
The webinar was one of the suggested actions stemming from RAPAD’s review into early childhood education and care in Central Western Queensland. The review highlighted the ECEC challenges within the region, workforce issues and the impact of accessibly to services for families and communities.
